D.C. Public Schools to provide free rides to select summer meal sites

The district has partnered with Uber to provide families with vouchers good for round trips up to $40.

A record 176 grantees will use the funding to create or expand their farm-to-school programs. 


The mandate differs from the latest CDC guidance, which says that fully vaccinated students and staff do not need masks inside.

Unvaccinated individuals should continue to wear masks indoors, per the updated guidance for K-12.

The cafeteria and kitchen will provide lunch to students who are visiting the center for field trips and will also act as a training space for students with disabilities.

Many will face significant financial and operational challenges, the School Nutrition Association’s Back to School 2021 survey reveals.

Both states have set aside funding for the meals in their budget plans.

Schools throughout the state will have to source at least 30% of ingredients used from local producers by 2030.

The district will be offering meals at over 15 local parks.
