Concord’s school cafeterias go local

Every cafeteria in the area will have produce, meat and ingredients from local agriculture.

The new rules include a maximum calorie count for meals served.

Four schools will also receive salad bars as part of the healthy makeover.

Menu options include fresh-baked muffins, popcorn, fresh salads and more.

The recent test run for a organic, GMO-free-based menu was a hit for students.

Fruit and vegetable cups also are being added to school lunch trays.

One of the district's main focuses is to get students excited about healthy eating habits.

The foodservice department at KIPP San Antonio schools has a new meals provider this year: the San Antonio Food Bank. 

The anti-hunger organization will cover over 200 school districts, including Boston schools.
