It’s been a busy year for the country’s largest school district. Along with the introduction of free school lunch for all students for the 2017-2018 school year, 15 Brooklyn schools launched Meatless Mondays in October, serving vegetarian meals for breakfast and lunch. Students now use compostable plates, and cafeteria waste stations include bins for recycling and compost.
