Centerplate is testing a gluten-free snack program in an undisclosed number of the recreation feeding operations it operates.
The experiment coincides with the rollout of a new Snacksmart product line to stadiums, sports arenas, convention centers and other facilities serviced by the Stamford, Conn.-based contract feeder. The array consists of nutrition bars, popcorn, cookies and other packaged snacks bearing brand names a shopper would likely see at Whole Foods or a health food store.
Several are described as organic or all natural, and others promise reduced calorie or fat content.
The same brand names appear in the gluten-free snack line, which Centerplate is marketing as a healthier-for-you choice. At least one product, a bagel, also appears to be targeted at allergy sufferers, with the description noting that it’s dairy, soy and nut free.
Pricing for the gluten-free line was not disclosed.
