At Balade, which means “fresh” in Lebanese, the menu offers authentic fare in familiar formats, such as pizza and wraps. Chicken Tawook is marinated grilled chicken served as a “sandweechet” or sandwich with french fries or rice.

Ingredients

4 cloves garlic, crushed
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tbsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. white pepper
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
2 lb. skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
4 large pita breads or flatbreads

Steps

  1. Combine garlic, mayonnaise, heavy cream, lemon juice, oregano, pepper and cayenne in large bowl. Add chicken; mix well and refrigerate for about 8 hr.
  2. Grill chicken until thoroughly cooked. Dice and roll in pita breads.
