Grilling season is officially here. To get your creative juices flowing, FSD gathered some of its best burger recipes, with a focus on burgers inspired by world flavors such as sandwiches infused with flavors from Greece and Tuscany.
Porky Burger
This juicy burger created by Iron Chef Michael Symon is a pork lover’s dream come true. Lean ground pork is formed into patties and grilled, then topped with saucy pulled pork, melted gruyere and pickled onions, all piled on brioche buns. Serve with plenty of napkins!
Spicy Thai Turkey Burger
Ground turkey makes for a lower fat burger that gets high marks for flavor when seasoned and sauced Thai-style. The veggie slaw topping adds both color and crunch.
Philly Cheeseburgers
This cheeseburger is a takeoff on the Philly Cheesesteak, incorporating that sandwich's iconic cheese, grilled peppers and onions into a burger topping.
California Chicken Sliders
The definition of “slider” has expanded beyond the original mini burger made of beef to include pulled pork, turkey, ground lamb and more. At the Slider Bar Café, in Palo Alto, Calif., many variations are on the menu. These Indian-spiced patties are based on ground chicken thigh meat, grilled and sandwiched between multigrain buns and topped with avocado slices.
Gyro-Burger with Yogurt Sauce
This recipe brings the tastes of Greece to customers' love of burgers. The burger itself features chopped spinach, cumin and garlic and is topped with a creamy yogurt sauce.
BabyBerk Burger
This burger was created as the signature burger at the UMass food truck BabyBerk. The burger features applewood smoked bacon, salsa, cheddar and Montreal steak seasoning.
Tuscany Burger with Rosemary Potatoes
A boldly flavored burger is served on grilled ciabatta bread and topped by pesto-mayonnaise. Rosemary roasted potato wedges are a scrumtious side.
