The most effective foodservice team, according to Henry DeTitta, HR director for Maryland-based Sage Dining Services, is one built on a variety of personalities and experiences. Of course, diverse temperaments can also lead to issues. DeTitta broke down five of the most common employee issues his directors encounter and how to work through them.
It’s an ongoing process, but ultimately the best way to avoid a problematic situation is to be proactive. Hiring that involves the whole team can go a long way, DeTitta says: “If [your team members] have a hand in picking that new person, then they’re going to have a more vested interest in that person succeeding.”
