2. Hospitality initiatives
Dawn Cascio, director of dining at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J., charged her patient services manager with creating a more comfortable environment not just for patients, but also for their families. The manager developed an initiative to extend guest meals to family members so they could remain bedside.
Spreading out these types of responsibilities allows Cascio to focus on marketing initiatives, improving patient and employee safety, community nutrition events, decreasing turnover, professional associations, benchmarking and cost-saving measures. But it’s not just about the time saved. “As a team, we are able to accomplish so much and contribute to the attainment of the overall organizational goals, such as patient-centered family care, sustainability and employee wellness,” she says.
