Vegan foods available on 63% more colleges, PETA affiliate finds

The number of colleges that provide a daily meat-free option to students has increased 63 percent since last year, according to a new study conducted by peta2, a network of student animal rights activists and a youth division of PETA.

Key findings from the report—which surveyed more than 1,400 four-year college and university dining programs—also revealed an increase in vegan desserts and more schools offering all-vegan dining stations, compared with their 2013 study.

Respondents said they seek vegan meals because of concerns for the environment, their health and the animals that are killed for food every year, the survey says.
