June 19—Fremont City Schools and other Sandusky County (Ohio) school districts are preparing for change in their meal menus in the coming school year, thanks to a federal initiative designed to put healthier foods on kids' plates. Those changes are leading to an unconventional solution: unlimited fruits and vegetables
Fremont City Schools has been working on changes to its food offerings for a while, said Kim Theller, the district's director of facilities and operations.
Theller said Fremont City Schools is re-evaluating some of its new food items and making adjustments to its menu.
She said the district is looking at the changes in a positive manner, with those menu tweaks corresponding with the district's focus on comprehensive wellness.
