University of Tenn. undergrads will be required to buy meal plans

In 2015, students who take six or more credit hours will have to purchase a minimum of $300 Dining Dollars per semester.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.—Starting next year, all undergraduate students at UT will be required to purchase a meal plan, an idea that met with some opposition late last year. However, UT has made the plans more flexible and given students more options that they hope will be more appealing.

Right now, only undergraduates living on campus are required to have a meal plan. But starting in fall 2015, all of those students who take six or more credit hours will have to purchase a minimum of $300 Dining Dollars each semester.
