University seeks to streamline dining experience with mobile app

In an effort to reduce student wait times in dining halls, Washington University has launched the Get Food app, allowing students to order food from their mobile phones, reports the university’s newspaper, Student Life.

With the app, which rolled out this spring, students can order food for pick-up from three campus-dining locations—including Bear’s Den, University Center and the Village eatery—and can pay using either their Bear Bucks or a debit or credit card.

The new app not only benefits students, but staff as well, Director of Marketing and Communications for Dining Services April Powell told the newspaper.

“It’s super convenient, very easy to use and a great way to avoid standing in those crazy lines,” she said. “If you have any sort of dietary needs, you’re able to identify specific food choices within the system.”
