University seeks to curb lines with online ordering

Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, has launched an online ordering service in an effort to combat long wait times in dining halls, Kent Wired reports.

The system, which debuts Monday, will have a soft opening until the start of next year when it will be launched campuswide. Richard Roldan, director of dining services, says that the soft launch will allow the university to work out any problems that arise within the first few months.

Roldan also hopes that the system, launched in partnership with food delivery app Tapingo, will also encourage students to order from less-popular dining halls.
