University introduces cook-your-own-meal area

In an effort to draw more student diners, Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., has introduced a cook-your-own-meal area in one of its dining halls, The Daily Northwestern reports.

Named “My Kitchen,” the area has separate stations for proteins, vegetables and cooking, and includes four induction burners, which enable four students to cook at one time. “Culinary experts” are also on hand to provide students with assistance.

My Kitchen was introduced as a result of student feedback. Rafael Ramos, executive chef at the dining hall, says the response has been nothing but positive so far.
