Aug. 13—The café at the Medical Center of the Rockies, in Loveland, Colo., is officially practincing what the hospital preaches by lowering the price of healthy foods while raising those of less-healthy foods.
The move is part of the hospital's Healthy U program, which started last week. For example, the vegetarian hamburger is now 25 percent less expensive than its beef-filled equivalent. The hamburger price has risen to $3, while the veggie burger is $2.25.
The pilot program will continue through the fall and will offer a variety of less expensive, healthy foods, such as a black bean burger, veggie burger, low-calorie pizza and a grilled chicken sandwich, said hospital officials.
