UMass, Amherst places Super Bowl food wager with University of Washington

AMHERST, Mass. — UMass, Amherst is joining in on the Super Bowl festivities by placing a friendly food wager on the game with the University of Washington.

Ken Toong is the executive director of auxiliary enterprises at UMass.

If the Seattle Seahawks win, he will send a New England clam bake feast for eight, including lobsters, clams, corn and potatoes, Boston cream pie, cranberry spinach salad and hot apple cider.

The food will be prepared by Willie Sng, executive chef at UMass Dining Services.

North Coast Seafoods of Boston and Ocean Spray Cranberries of Lakeville will sponsor the meal at an estimated cost of $500.

But if the Patriots win, University of Washington's food services director will send Toong a crab boil dinner for eight with crab, shrimp, mussels, clams and sausage with potatoes, garlic and corn, plus eight bags of Husky Grind Coffee and local apples
