Tulane weighing punishments for dining hall theft
March 25—Dining services at Tulane University is considering different methods of punishment for students who steal from Bruff Commons, and the favored penalty under consideration would require perpetrators to wash dishes in Bruff, director of dining and auxiliary services Lisa Norris said.
The discussions were prompted by increased theft of Bruff utensils, which caused a $50,000 charge to Tulane last semester. Dining Services has also seen a significant increase in theft from the Lavin-Bernick Center food court.
“We estimate we are losing around $12,000 a week in ticket sales from food theft in the LBC,” Norris said.
