Texas school district approves ‘Mega Lunch’ for students

Construction of a new Bonham Elementary School and improvements to Shotwell Stadium are just a few items the Abilene ISD Board of Trustees approved Monday.

The board approved construction of a new Bonham Elementary. which will cost $9.4 million and paid for by the school bond passed in 2009.

Paving and seal coating improvements to Cooper High School and Shotwell Stadium were also approved which will cost $95,216.

The board also approved a program called “Mega Lunch.”

Mega Lunch is a one-hour, six-minute block of time built into the middle of the day for high school students in Abilene ISD. Students will have the opportunity to eat lunch, attend tutorials and work with their teachers to get help if needed.
