Students at Harvard University are complaining about poor food quality in the dining halls as the school continues to contend with a strike among dining hall staff, Metro reports.
Since the strike began last week, the university has been recruiting volunteers to fill labor gaps, according to reports from its student newspaper, The Harvard Crimson. However, some students are saying that the volunteers do not know how to properly cook or serve meals, citing reported instances of undercooked food and of meat being served in vegetarian dishes.
The effects of the strike are being felt more strongly among students with allergy or dietary restrictions, who claim that the volunteers are not knowledgeable about the food offered and are unable to tell them what ingredients are in their meals.
The university released a statement saying that these claims are false and that the food offered in its dining halls is still being prepared by its professional culinary management team.
