Sodexo and school district launch website dedicated to nutrition and healthy lifestyles

RALSTON, Neb. — tudents and parents with nutritional questions have a new place to go to seek some answers.

Ralston Public Schools and Sodexo, the food services company for RPS, have launched a new website dedicated to nutrition and healthy lifestyles.

“Nutritional Solutions” falls right in line with RPS’s mission statement.

“That’s just part of the standard service we supply, “ said Judy Kyle, food service director for RPS. “That was actually kind of a new thing and when I saw that, I thought that was right in line with Ralston’s mission of A.C.T. — achievement, character and technology.”

The website, which launched on Jan. 1, allows parents and students access to information such as menus, nutritional information, online payments, and free and reduced lunch applications.

“The main thing that’s on there now is menus and nutritional information,” Kyle said. “You can access it from both the district website or any school website. If you click on ‘Lunch Menu’ it takes you to it.”

The website also offers tips for healthy living under the “Student Well-Being News” tab and information on the “Kids Can Cook” program. Coming soon will be the option to check careers within the district.

“We’re kind of always looking for food service subs,” Kyle said. “The district has online application but we haven’t linked them yet. There are a few techie issues.”

So far, the website has had very positive feedback.

“I did hear from a school nurse that she was doing a parent class on the importance of sleep on kids,” Kyle said. “She was going to use this and show to parents in her class as a resource.
