Sodexo, Binghamton strike a deal after contract standoff

Following on-campus protests from students and foodservice staff over Sodexo’s pay and labor practices, Binghamton University and the vendor have struck a tentative deal, reports Pipe Dream, the university’s newspaper.

The two-year agreement between Sodexo and the Binghamton, N.Y., university includes pay increases for higher-skilled workers as well as more comprehensive benefits with a lower premium.

“Sodexo is proud [of] our longstanding partnership with the university and we appreciate the patience of the faculty, staff, administration and students as we worked through negotiations,” Jim Ruoff, Sodexo’s resident dining manager, told Pipe Dream via email. “Most importantly, we thank the hourly employees at Sodexo Dining Services for their hard work and continued dedication to the Binghamton University community, which never wavered throughout the entire process.”
