The tournament provides a day of networking, golf and dining. It is one of several fundraisers the SFM Foundation puts on to support its scholarship program for students entering the foodservice industry. The foundation provides scholarships to high school seniors who are enrolled in a culinary or hospitality program at a four-year college or university. Since 2005, the foundation has awarded 21 scholarships. The foundation also provides funding for several colleges and universities to offer non-commercial foodservice courses as well as an internship program for students to work in non-commercial foodservice accounts.
