School bus offers free summer meals for students

School bus was retrofitted with benches so kids can eat on board.

June 21—Hernando County School District's summer feeding program has introduced a bus as a way to feed kids this summer. Kids that get a free lunch at school can now climb on the bus and eat all summer long.

“The need is great and so we are just hoping that we can get families out here and kids to come out and get the nutrition that they need during the summer when school is out,” said Lori Drenth who is director of Food and Nutrition Services for the district.
