NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Rutgers University says it has saved $300,000 in the first 10 weeks since it eliminated trays in three student dining halls.
Officials say the new policy has lowered the costs of food and dish washing.
Rutgers Dining Services director Joseph Charette tells the Home News Tribune the school has seen a 20 percent reduction in the amount of food that students throw out after they eat.
