Recipe contest winners serve up healthy lunch
May 24—Yesterday, local N.H. chef Chris Hart joined Hopkinton School District student winners of a healthy recipe contest at the middle school, which is part of first lady Michelle Obama's campaign to fight obesity by making school menus healthy as well as tasty.
The Chefs Move to Schools program has been implemented by other area districts like Bellingham. In Hopkinton, two chefs have stepped forward: Hart, a local parent, and his barbecue cookbook collaborator Andy Husbands, proprietor of the Boston restaurant Tremont 647. Hart worked yesterday with the middle school winners, joining cafeteria staff to show the students how to paint sauce onto chicken, roll wheat wraps and chop quickly but safely.
