SAN DIEGO — Team 10 examined the clean-up process after rats were reported at Mira Mesa High School.
Photos given to Team 10 anonymously by a school employee showed what appeared to be rat droppings on top of books.
"There is a large amount of rat feces in the library, in the work room, the cafeteria," the employee said.
A county spokesperson confirmed the Department of Environmental Health visited the campus Tuesday, which included inspectors from the food facility division and the Vector Control program.
Team 10 looked at public records that show the county last examined the school cafeteria in October, when no major violations were found. Inspections are done routinely to comply with state and local laws. There were two inspections at Mira Mesa High School in 2014, where no major violations were found.
A county spokesman also said they respond to schools if the district requests it.
The San Diego Unified School District has what is called Integrated Pest Management, which is a system for dealing with these issues within the district.
