P.S. 244 Elementary has switched to an all plant-based menu for its school lunches, reports fox5ny.com.
The school recently phased in the solely vegetarian menu and paired it with lessons for students and their parents about the health benefits.
It’s the first public school in the country to serve strictly vegetarian meals, officials say. Nearly 80 percent of P.S. 244 students eat the vegetarian lunch.
