Nutrition team delivers lunch during teacher walkout

The nutrition team at Tempe Elementary School District in Tempe, Ariz., has been providing students with meals during a teacher walkout, the Arizona Republic reports.

Students have been able to grab bagged lunches prepared by nutrition staff from a retrofitted school bus. On its first day, the bus made seven stops throughout the district and served 247 meals.

Seventy percent of students in the Tempe district qualify for free or reduced-price meals.

Teachers across Arizona have been participating in a walkout this week in demand for more education funding.
