NJ district rolls out No Foam Cafeteria Zone

Egg Harbor Township School District recently replaced single-use trays made of polystyrene foam, or Styrofoam, in its lunchrooms with molded fiber trays that are eco-friendly and compostable, as part of its No Foam Cafeteria Zone pilot project, reports Shore News Today.

The Egg Harbor Township, N.J., district rolled out the grant-funded project in an effort to recycle more plastic and reduce both the amount of waste it sends to landfills and the nearly $140,000 it pays the city per year to have its trash hauled away, says the website.
