New York schools seek fresh, local produce

Jan. 9— Making school lunch meals nutritious, cost efficient and popular with students is a constant balancing act.

At Saratoga Springs city schools, program Director Margaret Sullivan is trying to achieve all three goals by seeking fresh, locally grown goods and produce from area farmers.

However, pricing, availability and delivery issues are just some of the challenges the program faces.
