Monterey County, Calif., hospitals rescripting patient foodservice

Personalized, healthier menus and higher-quality food making patients happier

Jan. 21—Patients being treated in any one of the facilities that make up the County Hospitals of Monterey Peninsula are receiving healthier, better quality food thanks to the efforts of the foodservice department and a boost from technology.

The improvements are being driven by an executive chef who onced worked as a banquet chef at the famed Pebble Beach Golf Club, and by computer programs that allow hospitals to customize menus for the needs and desires of individual patients.
