Mo. district moves foodservice in-house

Since St. Joseph School District started operating its foodservice facilities again, breakfast participation has increased by about 100 meals per day despite a dip in enrollment, reports News Press Now.

St. Joseph’s Board of Education decided not to renew its foodservice vendor contract with Opaa! in March, and officials say student lunch participation is about the same.

Leah Schmidt, SJSD’s director of nutrition services, told News Press Now that the district would continue to tweak its menus and hold student focus groups to plan future meal options.
