Oct. 9—A new effort to combat child hunger through schools will be announced Wednesday morning.
The Minnesota School Breakfast Challenge will give the 30 state schools with the biggest increase in breakfasts served a dime for every morning meal served above last school year's total. The program could mean thousands of dollars for some schools.
The combined effort of the state of Minnesota, Hunger Free Minnesota, the Midwest Dairy Council and the Children's Defense Fund of Minnesota was formed to improve access to free and reduced-price breakfast for eligible students.
