Feb. 21—As of mid-January, Marblehead’s (Mass.) Public Schools and the Board of Health had entered into a collaborative recycling program that has seen food waste from cafeterias and other organic material usually sent to the town’s transfer station diverted to a local farm for composting.
“As we look ahead to our new transfer station, Marblehead can be proud that we’re taking proactive steps to remove items from the waste stream and protect the environment,” said Andrew Petty, Marblehead’s health director, in a press release posted on the MPS’ website.
