Lunch nonprofit faces lack of funds

Louisiana Lunch Money helps Lafayette schools pay for lunches.

Jan. 23—The Lafayette-based nonprofit group Louisiana Lunch Money may not be able to help elementary school students have full meals at lunchtime much longer.

As of late last week, the group's fund had only $174 in it. On average, the fund decreases by around $100 each day as the Lafayette Parish School System uses it to pay for lunches for students who do not have money in their accounts, or who do not qualify for free meal programs.
