Iowa capitol cafeteria to reopen after months-long hiatus

The Iowa Capitol cafeteria, shuttered in May after contractor Taher Inc. resigned the account, will reopen in January, The Des Moines Register reports.

Taher said at the time that it had concerns about the contract’s financial viability.

According to officials, state employees, visitors and politicians have been getting food from vending machines and food trucks in the meantime.

“The Legislature is handling the selection of a new vendor,” Caleb Hunter, deputy director of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services, told The Des Moines Register.
