Spring Independent School District’s child nutrition department recently encouraged students to eat a healthier breakfast by holding an “usie” photo contest, The Paper has learned.
Officials at the Houston district say students at their six elementary schools who participated in the Breakfast in the Classroom program were tasked with taking the most creative picture while wearing “fruit smiley faces.”
The class with the best photo from each school won a Wild Fruit Party on the "Go, Glow and Grow" child nutrition bus—the district’s traveling nutritional classroom—where they sampled an assortment of fruit, created their own fruit kebabs and watched videos about healthy meal choices.
