Hospital farmers' market also welcomes public

Hospital employees can also participate in farm CSA.

June 25—Ruby red strawberries and bright green lettuces were a couple of the offerings at the new Saint Anne’s Hospital farmers market, in Fall River, Mass.

The farmers market started Monday and will continue each Monday through the summer from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Located outside the main entrance, the market is open to employees, patients, visitors and the general public.

“We’re definitely open to the public,” said Susan Oldrid, Saint Anne’s vice president of Mission and Community Partnership. “We’re trying to promote better health ... and make sure it’s accessible to folks.”

Employees can take part in the farm’s community supported agriculture program, in which they can pre-pay for selected produce and pick it up during the farmers market. They can get a payroll deduction if they’d like to purchase the fresh produce before they get their paycheck.
