Hospital dietitian replaces food pyramid with "My Healthy Plate"

"My Healthy Plate" consists of a half plate of non-starch veggies, one-fourth plate of healthy starches and one-fourth plate of low-fat protein.

CASA GRANDE, Ariz.—Jackie Huston knew she wanted to be a registered dietician when she was in high school.

“I didn’t even know what a registered dietician was,” she said, “but as soon as I learned about it from a counselor, I knew: ‘Yeah, I want to do that.’”

Her mother had been a good cook and a registered nurse, Huston said. “But the food, the nutrition always interested me more than nursing.”
