Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt has successfully completed the first frozen yogurt delivery via drone, which took place at Hope College in Holland, Mich.
Due to the test’s success, Orange Leaf will begin drone deliveries to students by appointment, the chain said in a news release. Deliveries will be made from the brand’s location near campus, and the drones will be piloted by humans.
The delivery initiative, entitled Project Flying Orange Unicorn, was led by franchisee Jeremy Latchaw, who is also president of a drone dealership.
Building on the positive response to the test, Orange Leaf said it will look into expanding its drone program to other markets across the country.
