Former patients run hospital's foodservice program

Toronto mental health hospital's dining program staffed entirely by ex-patients.

July 8—Not too long ago, patients in the Queen St. mental institution now known as CAMH were barred from the staff cafeteria.

Now, they are running the place.

A month ago, they took over, without aplomb or fanfare, just a new coat of paint, new wood floors, and a new menu offering less grease, more smiles and extra helpings of inspiration.

Every person working here, including management, was a mental health or addictions patient at some point.
