LA 2024—the committee bidding for Los Angeles to host the 2024 Summer Olympic Games—has selected University of California-Los Angeles as the site for the Olympic Village, which would house and feed all competing athletes.
Officials said they were drawn by UCLA’s award-winning dining services and eight on-campus restaurants, which they adjudged capable of providing the variety necessary to meet the competitors’ needs.
“We are thrilled by the opportunity to once again host the world’s athletes at UCLA, just as we did for the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles,” UCLA Chancellor Gene Block said in a statement.
The International Olympic Committee is expected to select the site for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in September 2017.
