Elementary school revamps lunches to include natural ingredients

Fruit and vegetable cups also are being added to school lunch trays.

Sept. 16—The exuberant young children at Gurney Elementary School lined up in the school cafeteria Thursday to get their lunches before heading to their tables.

But it's not hamburgers, sloppy joes or tater tots being served to the students. On this day, it's Asian chicken pull, brown rice and an Asian vegetable blend including broccoli and string beans. There are also fruit and vegetable cups, including kiwi, along with whole bananas for children to add to their lunch trays.

It's part of the new healthier school lunch menu that has been unveiled this year at Gurney, which houses the Chagrin Falls school district's K-2 students
