March 6—East Carolina University’s Campus Living and Dining Services and the ECU Ceramic’s Guild collaborated to combat hunger through the Empty Bowls fundraiser.
The event was held on ECU’s campus March 2 and raised approximately $3,000. In exchange for a cash donation, guests at the event received a simple meal of soup and bread.
They were also invited to select a handcrafted bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. The bowls were created and donated by members of the ECU Ceramics Guild.
