District saves $350,000 by going self-op

District served 7,212 lunches per day so far this year.

April 19—Student Nutrition Services at The Yuma Union High School District reported that the department has seen more than $300,000 in savings after becoming a self-operated operation.

So far this year, they have seen $387,725 in savings from lunch reimbursements. Student Nutrition Services director Charlene Story added that the department served 5,413 breakfasts per day in the district last month as well as 7,212 lunches per day with a federal reimbursement of $452,000.
