Delaware medical center alerts community of possible Listeria in salads

Beebe Medical Center was informed of contaminated prepacked salads from Reser’s Fine Foods this month.

Oct. 28—Beebe Medical Center is alerting the community that salads served at the hospital’s cafeterias since August may have been contaminated with Listeria.

The hospital is not aware of anyone becoming ill after eating at the hospital. Officials put out the warning after it was discovered this month that one of the hospital’s food distributors – Reser’s Fine Foods – issued a national product recall of its prepackaged salads.

“Out of an abundance of caution we believe that it is important that you are made aware of this recall and the symptoms that could possibly occur,” the hospital said in press release.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has also reported that there have been no known cases of illness nationally linked with the recalled food.
