Corporate cafeteria employees fight for days lost to Hurricane Sandy

Workers tell news site that they had sick days, vacation time taken without warning.

Cafeteria workers for corporations in New York City are fighting to recover sick days and vacation time they said they were docked because of Hurricane Sandy. New York's public advocate, Bill DeBlasio, rallied with employees last week in downtown Manhattan in support of their plight.

DeBlasio told DNAInfo.com that workers had days deducted from their banks without warning, even in cases where their places of employment were closed because of the effects of the storm. He said he drafted a letter to several food management firms contracted by various Manhattan companies asking them to recondier their policies.
