Amherst College in Amherst, Mass., is replacing its do-it-yourself smoothie bar with a full-service version of the station, The Amherst Student reports.
The switch aims to limit food waste and increase food safety. Previously, students would load too much into the blenders, causing food loss. Officials also hope the new station will alleviate line congestion and reduce cross-contamination of ingredients for students with allergy restrictions.
