Charge limit reducing late lunch payments

The amount students owe has dropped by half since limit implemented.

Feb. 14—The amount students owe for meals in Guilford County (N.C.) Schools has dropped by more than half since the school system started limiting how much they can charge.

The Board of Education learned Tuesday that students in elementary and middle schools charged $122,280 by the end of December, compared with $283,304 a year before. The average amount owed also dropped, from $26.29 to $11.80 per student.
