California-Riverside students fight for food trucks

Student Senate approaches Dining Services with proposal for locally owned trucks.

Nov. 26—Students at the University of California-Riverside have asked the office of Housing Services and Student Affairs to allow local food trucks to drive onto campus to provide additional food outlets for students, faculty and staff. Students believe the idea would be an inexpensive way to add menu diversity to the campus.

Director of Dining, Catering & Conference Services Cheryl Garner said the university would consider the proposal, but noted that several issues would need to be addressed. The university already operates its own food truck on campus, called Culinary Chameleon.
